CHURCH STORY
The history of Chesapeake Baptist Church is filled with many trials and tribulations, victories and defeats, miracles and heartaches. But God, through his infinite mercy, has guided this congregation through it all.
In early 2009, Grace Baptist Temple lost its pastor and went through a time of uncertainty. There was a growing division inside the congregation, with different thoughts and different ideas. They were a church without a Pastor.
During this time, God raised up a few godly men and women who called out to God for help. One such member was Miss Effie Hurst, a dear old lady in her 80's who would rise up before 5 a.m. in the morning and pray for God to send a Pastor who would guide her church through this trouble.
God sent her His man, when Matt Nettesheim became Pastor of the 14 remaining members, on June 28, 2009.

Pastor Matt Nettesheim came with a dedicated wife and seven wonderful children. With the remaining church members, they all got busy and began planting and watering. New gospel tracts were printed, big days were planned, soul winning began to take shape, and soon God began adding families, souls were saved and baptized, lives were changed, ministries were added and God received all the Glory and Praise!
It's easy to look back just a few short years later and see how far God has brought Chesapeake Baptist Church. With the fields still white unto the harvest and many souls still needing the Saviour, God still has big plans in store for this growing church.
God is good! Won't you come and be a part of the future history of Chesapeake Baptist Church?
